La Posada
As a residential hospice facility, our goal is to help people live life fully and comfortably while supporting their loved ones. La Posada is designed and decorated with this in mind. The homelike environment helps nurture the philosophy that the end of life can be filled with meaning, comfort and dignity. La Posada is a home away from home for patients, families and friends. Located in Las Cruces, La Posada is the first free-standing facility of its kind in the state of New Mexico.

Each private patient suite includes cable TV, telephone, private bath and accommodations for family members including sleeper sofa and recliner. Each room is equipped with call lights and safety features. The daily room and board rate includes the room, meals, linen service, housekeeping, activities and personal care assistance. Room and board is a separate charge and is not usually covered by insurance or Medicare.
The original definition of Hospice goes back to medieval times, when the term meant "a shelter for ill or weary travelers". The name La Posada (the shelter) reflects the mission of Mesilla Valley Hospice and the role the facility plays in quality end of life care.
Family and friends notice something different the minute they enter La Posada. A special hospitality area includes living room, dining room and kitchen for family use. Patios and gardens allow patients and families to enjoy the outdoors.
The cheery homelike environment is designed to accommodate them as they visit and care for their loved one. Visitors are always welcome around the clock, and even the family pet may visit.
La Posada may be the best choice when:
- The situation becomes overwhelming at home
- There is no one home to care for the patient
- The patient requires care around the clock
- Pain and symptom management can best be achieved in La Posada
- The patient chooses this environment
