Admissions - The admissions team at MVH is ready and available to assist family and physicians with the tough decisions that occur with a family member's failing health. Nurses respond 24-hours a day with prevention and pain control initiatives and medications. Equipment and supplies related to the life limiting illness are provided through Mesilla Valley Hospice.
Education for you and your loved ones, spiritual counseling, emotional support and assistance with legal issues are just a few ways we are dedicated to assisting the Las Cruces community and its surrounding areas.
Grief and Bereavement - The needs of a family continue after the death of a loved one, so Mesilla Valley Hospice continues care for hospice families throughout the first year of bereavement. In addition, the Center for Grief Services is a free service to our community that offers individual counseling, grief support groups, a lending library, community services and children/adolescent support.
Advanced Directives - There are many things in life that are out of our hands. Mesilla Valley Hospice offers a great resource entitled "Five Wishes." This simple booklet gives you a way to control something very important - how you are treated if you get seriously ill. Five Wishes is the first living will that addresses your personal, emotional, and spiritual needs as well as your medical wishes.
It was written with the help of The American Bar Association's Commission on the legal Problem's of the Elderly, and the nation's leading experts in end-of-life care. It's also easy to use. Storyteller Magazine - The Storyteller magazine is one of our latest publications in the community. Published once a year in both English and Spanish, the Storyteller provides insight into the lives of some of the families that Mesilla Valley Hospice helps each year. Community interest stories, a chaplain's corner and Center for Grief Services each provide a good overview of the services provided. We welcome stories!
Volunteering - Mesilla Valley Hospice is a private, nonprofit community based agency dedicated to the care of people living with life limiting conditions. Hospice care is noble and humbling work which is greatly complemented by the effort of Hospice volunteers, both those who choose to work with families and those who help the organization through office, community relations or fund raising activities.
